Places to Stay in Moray

Moray runs from the whisky country of Speyside to a coast of sandy beaches and little harbours on the Moray Firth. These are our favourite places to stay across it, from a whole tower house for a big gathering to woodland hideaways for two.

Updated 23 September 2026. Across Morayshire.

Moray is a wonderful mix of coast and countryside. Spend a morning on the beach, an afternoon at a Speyside distillery, and an evening in a quiet glen watching the light fade over the woods. The towns of Elgin and Forres make easy bases.

We've picked out places to stay right across the region. There's a 17th-century tower house near Elgin that a large party can take over completely, and a Georgian mansion near Forres on an estate that once belonged to Pluscarden Abbey. For two, there's a larch A-frame cabin and a woodland bothy, both with wood-fired hot tubs, and a restored Georgian gate lodge with its own sauna in the woods. There are estate cottages and a restored farmhouse too, and several welcome dogs.
