Aberdeenshire

Drams, ales and harbour bars.

Aberdeenshire's bars range from a whisky library in a Braemar hotel to a low-ceilinged howff on an old harbour. There's an inn of 1771 at the edge of Stonehaven harbour, a hotel bar where Bram Stoker signed the guest book, a village pub in an old grocer's shop and a quiet bar with hundreds of whiskies by the dram. In Aberdeen, look out for craft beer and the city's oldest pub. Order a local ale, or ask for a malt from just down the road.

The Fife Arms, the hotel in Braemar in Aberdeenshire, has an Art Deco cocktail bar with a story behind its name.

‘In Braemar, The Fife Arms’ sleek Art Deco cocktail bar, Elsa’s, is named after Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, a friend of Frances Farquharson, wife of the 16th Laird of Invercauld and former fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar. The drinks menu pays homage to her with cocktails inspired by her fragrance collection and love of shocking pink.’
