Farquharson's Bar and Kitchen

Braemar's village pub, in an old grocer's shop, with a beer garden over the Clunie Water.

Welcome

Farquharson's is the village pub of Braemar, made out of an old Deeside grocer's shop in the middle of the village and opened by the chief of the clan whose name it takes, Captain Alwyne Farquharson of Invercauld, who cut a ribbon of the clan tartan to open it.

It is a traditional pub, and it cooks homemade, hearty food seven days a week for locals and visitors alike: slow-cooked beef cobbler, bangers and mash, fish specials, with gluten-free choices on the menu. Dogs are welcome, which in a village full of walkers matters a great deal.

The best of it is outside. The beer garden sits over the Clunie Water as it runs through the village, beside the ruins of Kindrochit Castle, and on a long summer evening, after a day on Morrone or out at Loch Callater, it is a good place to sit with a pint. There is a car park right next door. Book a table in the busiest weeks, above all around the Gathering in September.
