Welcome

In the middle of Montrose, a bright shopfront lettered Ceramic Painting & Art Studio opens onto a cafe that is two things at once.

The Funky Wee Teapot is a place to paint pottery, and it is also a cafe where everything on the menu is gluten free.

Donna and Graeme Taylor built the menu themselves, from cakes, scones and traybakes to more filling lunches, with iced coffees and smoothies, so that anyone who cannot eat gluten can order anything at all. Around the tables, shelves of plain white mugs, plates and figures wait to be painted and fired.

There are drop-in painting sessions, classes in throwing on the wheel and building by hand, family events and parties. The cafe opens most days, from ten until four.
