Roo's Leap

A family-run restaurant in the old Albert Clubhouse of 1901 by the Montrose golf links, cooking steaks and burgers over charcoal with an Australian lean.

Welcome

On Traill Drive, where the town gives way to the golf links and the dunes, a handsome sandstone building of 1901 was once the Albert Golf Club's clubhouse.

Since 1984 it has been Roo's Leap, a family restaurant with an Australian lean, looking out over one of the oldest golf courses in the world.

The kitchen cooks over charcoal in a Josper oven: steaks and pork from Yorkes of Dundee, burgers pressed by hand from grass-fed beef. There is a tiki bar, the Kon-Tiki, attached.

It is a relaxed, busy place for families and friends after a round on the links or a walk on the long Montrose beach just beyond the dunes, open for lunch and dinner most days, and tables are best booked at weekends.
