The Bookmark is a small independent bookshop on the High Street of Grantown-on-Spey, selling new books since 2007.

It is run by Marjory Marshall, who chooses every title on the shelves herself, and it was shortlisted for Independent Bookseller of the Year in 2013.

For such a cosy space it holds a surprising number of books: the latest bestsellers in crime, thrillers and modern fiction, a large children's section, walking guides for the Cairngorms and a strong run of Scottish books, with local authors and the history of Grantown and the country round about. Marjory's own local picks range from Nan Shepherd's The Living Mountain to a book on the place names of the parish of Cromdale. Gift cards are on sale too. The Bookmark opens Monday to Saturday from ten until five.

Before you go

The Bookmark opens Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and is closed on Sunday.

It sells only new books.
