Nethy Bridge
Introduction
Just south of Grantown-on-Spey and a 45-minute drive from Inverness, Nethy Bridge is a picturesque village with a truly spectacular outlook. Bask in the glorious views on offer in and around ‘Forest Village’ – as it has become known, thanks to its proximity to Abernethy Forest and the ancient Caledonian Pine Forest. It’s nine—hole golf course provides particularly pleasant views for those wanting to enjoy a quick round.
The Nethy Bridge Visitor Centre is a great place to start if you plan to explore the area, and they can provide you with details of local walking routes to really get the most out of your visit. Castle Roy, towards the north of the village, is a quaint and historic spot. The 11th century fortress, built by Clan Comyn, is said to be among the oldest, unchanged castles of its type in the whole of Scotland.
