The candlemakers of the Cairngorms, on Grantown-on-Spey's High Street: soy candles with Scottish scents, plastic-free.

Welcome

Cairn is a candle maker on the High Street of Grantown-on-Spey, calling itself the candlemakers of the Cairngorms, and its shop is a warm, fragrant room of wooden shelves, candles and reed diffusers.

The candles are made in the traditional way from sustainable soy wax, free of paraffin, with cotton wicks for a clean burn, and they are cruelty-free.

The scents take their lead from Scotland: the Cairngorm Collection, a Lochnagar candle, Highland Berries and Caledonia Fruits among them, alongside utility tins, long matches and gifts. Everything is plastic-free, with recyclable and biodegradable packaging, and for every candle sold the company plants a tree in sub-Saharan Africa through Trees for the Future, more than seventy-six thousand so far. The shop opens Tuesday to Saturday, until 4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and until 2pm later in the week, and it is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Scotland, in print.

We want to show you the best that Scotland has to offer. The makers and the creatives, the enduring experiences, the evocative tales, the concealed corners. The roads less travelled that take you to places that matter. The adventures that gather you up and sweep you away. The blend of the wild and the artistic that makes Scotland what it is. We’d love for you to join us.
