Introduction

You'd be forgiven for thinking the unmarked sandstone slab at the entrance to the museum was unremarkable. In fact, it's believed it dates back to the Bronze Age and is an early example of a Class 1 Pictish stone discovered in the 1960s by a local farmer. Within this fascinating little volunteer-run independent museum there is a carefully curated collection of artefacts from prehistoric elk antlers to Roman coinage, local documents, maps and early photographs and a wealth of material relating to Clan Ross. The museum is open from April to October.
