Starry Starry Night
A vintage clothing shop on cobbled Dowanside Lane off Byres Road since 1986, with clothes from the Victorian era to the 1980s, vintage textiles and costume jewellery.
Tucked down cobbled Dowanside Lane, just off Byres Road, Starry Starry Night is one of the West End's great places to shop for vintage.
It's a small, traditional boutique that has been buying and selling old clothes since 1986, behind a green timber front with rails of clothes out on the lane. The stock reaches right back to antique Victorian and Edwardian pieces, then runs on through vintage and retro clothing all the way to the 1980s. Alongside the clothes you'll find vintage textiles such as lace, linen and quilts, as well as costume jewellery and vintage handbags, and the team know their antique clothing well, so ask if you're looking for something from a particular era. It's a lovely stop on a wander round the West End's lanes, with Ashton Lane and Byres Road a minute or two away. It's open every day, so it's easy to fit in, but ring ahead before a special trip.

The shop buys vintage clothing as well as selling it; ring ahead to ask about a particular piece.
