Murton Farm & Nature Reserve

A farm, tearoom and nature reserve of lochs and paths on the edge of Forfar, run by an education charity, with donkeys, birds and scones baked every morning.

Welcome

On the eastern edge of Forfar, Murton is a hundred acres of land turned into a haven for wildlife, run by a charity that teaches children and adults about the land.

Paths wind around a chain of lochs among reeds, birch and gorse.

At the heart of it is a small visitor farm, where donkeys and other animals come to the fence to be greeted, and a tearoom that has become well loved in its own right. The scones are baked every morning, the soups and daily specials use local and seasonal produce, and the baking is all done on site.

The nature reserve is free to wander, with donations welcome, and it makes an easy half-day for families, with birdwatching for the grown-ups and animals for the children.
