Montrose Beach

Visit website
Welcome

Montrose has one of the best big beaches on the east coast, made for a bright, blustery day.

Three miles of golden sand run north from the town's promenade all the way to the mouth of the North Esk, with dunes behind you and the North Sea rolling in beside you. Walk far enough and the town disappears completely, and it's just you and the birds working the tideline at the river mouth. Bring a flask, give yourself an hour or two, and finish with a coffee at the Traill Pavilion back on the promenade. There's free parking along the seafront, so it's an easy one to do on a whim.
