Welcome

The quickest way to Jura in summer leaves the car behind.

The Jura Passenger Ferry runs from Tayvallich, on the Knapdale shore of the mainland, straight across the Sound of Jura to the pontoons at Craighouse in under an hour. The boat is a catamaran with heated seats inside and a covered deck outside, run by Nicol Mackinnon of Islay Sea Safaris. It sails from spring to the end of September, and only on some days of the week, so check the timetable and book before travelling. Bikes are carried, up to twelve a sailing, and dogs go free. Leave the car in the car park across from Tayvallich village hall, and be at the boat ten minutes before it sails.
