Welcome

The Isle of Skye Sea Salt Company makes salt the slow way at Dunvegan: seawater from Loch Snizort evaporated in polytunnels by sun and wind rather than boiled, which is why the flakes are so clean.

It is one of the few sea salts in Britain made without fuel, and it went from a kitchen experiment to the shelves of good shops across Scotland. The works are on the Glendale road outside Dunvegan and are not a visitor attraction, but the salt is sold in the island's shops and online.
