Dougarie Estate

A family sporting estate on Arran's west coast, dating to the 1850s, with salmon and sea trout fishing on the River Iorsa, stalking, shooting and holiday cottages.

Dougarie is a family sporting estate on the west coast of Arran, where the River Iorsa comes down from the hills to meet the sea.

The estate dates back to the 1850s. A white timber boathouse stands on the grass above its pebble beach.

The Iorsa is a classic west-coast spate river, rising and falling with the rain, and it runs salmon and sea trout. It is fished in two beats, from Loch Iorsa down to the Gorge pool and from there to the sea pool, with a track alongside so every pool can be reached. Fishing is let by the week or the day from June to the end of October, on a strict catch-and-release basis.

The estate also offers red deer stalking, shooting, sea fishing and a number of holiday cottages. Contact the estate office to book.
