Introduction

Now a popular seaside resort to the north of the Dornoch Firth, the water’s namesake town can trace its origins back to the 8th century. Taking its name from the Gaelic meaning ‘pebbly place’, the town is steeped in history, from its famous Dornoch Castle to the internationally acclaimed Royal Dornoch Golf Course, considered one of the best in the world.
