Welcome

On the shore of Loch Carron, a few miles from Plockton, a small farm of seventeen acres has been set aside to keep old breeds of farm animals alive.

Craig Highland Farm is a rare-breeds conservation centre, and a peaceful place to spend an hour.

The animals are friendly and used to people. There are ancient Scottish breeds of sheep, outdoor pigs and piglets, ponies and a donkey, goats and a llama, rabbits and owls, and traditional kinds of poultry, geese and ducks. Visitors can give many of them a handful of food, which children love.

Beyond the fields the farm runs down to the loch shore, where it is quiet but for water, wind and birds. There are stone cottages and lodges on the farm for anyone who wants to stay longer, and Plockton, with its harbour and seal trips, is just along the road.
