On a quiet corner of St Swithin Street, among the granite terraces of Aberdeen's west end, Cafe Cognito has been the local coffee stop for more than ten years.

Behind a blue door and a screened terrace under a canopy, it is a warm, easy-going neighbourhood place.

Everything is made fresh each day. The counter is lined with scones, pastries and cakes under glass domes, and there are sandwiches, soups, salads and bagels for lunch, good coffee, and ice cream sundaes when the sun is out. On a fine day the terrace outside is the place to be.

Dogs are welcome, and there is even ice cream made for them. The cafe opens early every morning through the week, and until two o'clock at the weekend.
