Small Isles
Aird nan Uan
Welcome
Aird nan Uan is a headland on the Isle of Muck, on the east side of Gallanach Bay, with the sea on three sides and the hills of Rum across the water.
It has been a burial ground for a very long time. Two low cairns here are Neolithic or early Bronze Age. The larger is about eight metres across, with its kerb stones still showing. Beside them is the walled enclosure of the MacEwens of Muck, and their headstones make up the ring. It's a short walk from the track at Gallanach, and there's nothing to pay.
