Places to Stay in Lochaber in Winter

Lochaber in winter means quiet roads, snow on the high tops and short, bright days by the lochs. These are the places to stay that keep their doors open through the colder months, from shoreline cottages to cabins with a hot tub under the stars.

Come to Lochaber between November and March and you'll find it at its most peaceful. The summer crowds have gone from Glencoe, the roads along the lochs are quiet, and snow settles on the mountains above the water. The days are short, so make the most of the light with a walk along the shore, then head back somewhere warm as the afternoon fades.

We've picked out the places that welcome guests right through the winter. There are cottages on the shore of Loch Linnhe and in a quiet glen with loch and mountain views. On Ardnamurchan, woodland cabins look across Loch Sunart with no other buildings in sight. Near Glencoe, there are cabins with private hot tubs and a sauna for warming up after a day on the hills. Every one takes dogs, so the whole family can come.
