Hostels, Bunkhouses and Campsites on Skye

You don't need a big budget to wake up somewhere wonderful on Skye. These are our favourite hostels, bunkhouses and campsites on the island, from a pitch behind the beach to a stylish bunkhouse with a sauna above the bay.

Curated and written by Hidden Scotland

Updated 23 September 2026. Across the Isle of Skye.

Some of the best mornings on Skye start in a sleeping bag. Unzip the tent to the Cuillin, or step out of a snug bunk to the sea glittering below, and you'll soon forget you ever wanted a four-poster.

These are our favourite simple places to stay on the island, the kind that leave more money for boat trips and dinners out. There are campsites at the foot of the mountains and right behind the beach, a friendly adults-only hostel in an old wooden schoolhouse, and a boutique bunkhouse with its own sauna overlooking the bay. Pack light, bring your boots, and let the island be the luxury.
