Fold
The Barn's craft and design store at Banchory, showing and selling work by Scottish designer-makers, from ceramics to scarves and prints.
At the Barn, the arts centre on the edge of Banchory, a row of old sheds was rebuilt as FOLD, a store and workshop for contemporary Scottish craft and design.
It opened in June 2019, grown out of flock, the Barn's annual craft and design fair and the largest of its kind in Aberdeenshire.
Inside, under skylights and against a deep green wall, are the works of designer-makers based in Scotland, some long established, some just starting out: ceramics, jewellery, scarves and textiles, prints, candles and homewares. Among them is the Hamewares Collection, commissioned by the Barn itself.
There are workshops where you can learn how things are made and meet the makers. It opens from Thursday to Saturday, and Buchanan Bistro is next door for lunch.

Scotland, in print.
We want to show you the best that Scotland has to offer. The makers and the creatives, the enduring experiences, the evocative tales, the concealed corners. The roads less travelled that take you to places that matter. The adventures that gather you up and sweep you away. The blend of the wild and the artistic that makes Scotland what it is. We’d love for you to join us.
What we have written about it and more in Aberdeenshire.
