Caithness, Wick
Dunnet Head
Introduction
Officially the most northerly point of mainland Britain, Dunnet Head looks out over the Pentland Firth and towards the Orkney Islands. A popular spot for birdwatching enthusiasts – dozens of seabirds call the cliffside home – the lighthouse at this point was used for minor fortification during WWII and as a bunker during the Cold War.
