The View, Thurso

Nine newly refurbished rooms with kitchenettes on the seafront at Thurso, the former Marine, looking over Thurso Bay to Orkney, with self check-in.

Welcome

On the seafront at Thurso, at the top of the North Coast 500, the building long known as The Marine has a new life.

Bought by a young family business, Bide Hotels, and refurbished, it has reopened as The View, nine rooms looking out over Thurso Bay.

The best of them face the sea, with tall windows over the water and, on a clear day, Orkney on the horizon; the penthouse at the top has its own balcony looking out to Dunnet Head. Every room has a kitchenette, good coffee and a comfortable bed, and check-in is by a code sent before you arrive, with a real person on the phone at any hour.

It makes an easy base for the far north, with the surf at Thurso East, the Orkney ferry at Scrabster and John o' Groats all within reach. From October to March, on the right night, the Northern Lights can be seen over the bay.
