Forss House Hotel
A country house hotel in twenty acres of woodland on the River Forss near Thurso, below a waterfall, with rooms in the house and cottages by the water, a restaurant and a bar.
A few miles west of Thurso, the River Forss makes a loop through a hidden fold of woodland on its way to the sea, and there, below a waterfall, stands Forss House.
It is a country house hotel, twenty acres of trees around it and the sound of the water always close.
The main house keeps its traditional country-house rooms, with antiques, open fires and a bar well stocked with whisky, and a restaurant that serves dinner and afternoon tea. For something more private, cottages stand at the water's edge, good for couples or a group of friends, and dogs are welcome in some of the rooms.
The grounds are made for wandering, past the old mill buildings and along the riverbank down to the sea. Forss makes a peaceful base on the North Coast 500, eight minutes from Thurso and handy for the Orkney ferry at Scrabster and the far north-east.

A hotel, open all year to guests; the restaurant and bar are open to non-residents too.
