Welcome

For an evening out somewhere memorable on the Rhins of Galloway, head for the top of the peninsula.

Corsewall Lighthouse was built by Robert Stevenson and first lit in 1817, at the mouth of Loch Ryan, and it is still a working light. It was automated in 1994, and the old keepers' houses are now a hotel, whose restaurant is open to visitors as well as to its guests. Come early for a wander along the shore at Corsewall Point, where the rock is packed with rounded boulders, some of them a metre and a half across. Watch the sea for gannets diving, and in good weather look out for Ailsa Craig, far off across the water.
