Welcome

Gardenstown, known locally as Gamrie, is a fishing village built on the face of the cliffs above the Banffshire coast, its houses stacked on terraces down to the harbour.

Bumble and Brae is its café, cosy and family-run.

The family behind it love baking, and the counter shows it, with home bakes and scones through the day. The coffee is good, breakfast is served, and the welcome is warm, whether for the locals who come in daily or for walkers and people who have parked their motorhome by the shore.

It opens from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, and tables can be reserved. Walk it off afterwards along the shore to Crovie, the tiny village of cottages squeezed between the cliff and the sea a short way along the bay. For the evening, the Garden Arms is in the village.
