Beinn Sgritheall

A Munro of 974 metres above Arnisdale on the north side of Loch Hourn, climbed from the village by the Bealach Arnasdail.

Welcome

Beinn Sgritheall rises to 974 metres on the mainland above Arnisdale, on the north side of Loch Hourn, across the loch from Knoydart.

It stands apart from the Munros of Kintail, reached over the Mam Ratagan road from Shiel Bridge. The Glenelg ferry calls it Arnisdale's very own local Munro.

The usual way up starts from the road at the west end of Arnisdale and climbs to the Bealach Arnasdail, east of the summit. The hill is in Glenelg Mountain Rescue's area. The team warns walkers not to rely on a mobile phone, as reception in many parts of the Glenelg area is poor or there is none, and to turn back when that is the sensible thing to do. There is no avalanche forecast for this hill, but that does not mean there is no risk under snow. Choose a day with a good forecast, and carry a map, a compass and warm clothes.
