Inside The Gate Lodge.

The Gate Lodge stands at the gate of Kingairloch House, and it's unusual for being built of cut granite. It has one of the finest views on the estate, with mountains all around and the loch in front. Inside there's a sitting room with a wood-burning stove and deep sofas, a dining table by the window and underfloor heating downstairs. It sleeps four, in a double and a twin. The garden is ringed by iron railings, and there's a washing machine and tumble dryer for muddy days.

Oakwoods, sea lochs and the end of the road at Ardnamurchan Point.

Oakwoods run down to Loch Sunart at Glenborrodale, and the road ends at Ardnamurchan Point, the most westerly point of mainland Britain.

Inside Pier Cottage.

Pier Cottage is a small stone cottage right on the edge of the loch, a cosy place for two and a lovely base for exploring Morvern. It has a king-size bed with its own walk-in shower, a sitting room with a stone wall and a wood-burning stove, and windows that look straight out over the water to the hills. Pine martens, otters and red deer come by, and there's very little traffic on the estate road. There's a fish farm base next door. Up to two dogs are welcome.

Glencoe, and the mountains that close in on either side of the road.

The road runs down the glen beneath the Three Sisters, past the visitor centre and on to Kinlochleven at the head of Loch Leven.
