Whitmuir Farm
A working farm near West Linton in the Scottish Borders with a café, a farm shop and butchery, and a woodland walk.
Sixteen miles south of Edinburgh, on a hillside in the Scottish Borders with views of the Pentland Hills, Whitmuir is a working farm with a café, a farm shop and its own woodland walk.
The café bakes every day and changes its menu with the seasons and what comes from the farm and its butchery, with breakfast each morning and lunch from noon until three. Dogs are welcome inside and on the covered deck, which has heating for cooler days. The farm shop and butcher's counter sell fresh meat, pies and ready meals, local cheese, bread, fruit and veg, and jams, chutneys and relishes made on the farm in small batches. Outside, the Woodland Walk passes fairy houses, a pond and a bug hotel before dropping down through the farm, home to the Highland cows Morag and Maggie-Moo. Children can climb on the old farm tractor, Quercus Garden Plants is on site too, and there's no need to book.

Open every day, with no need to book a table in the café.
