The Fork & Mustard is a family-run café on Glebe Street, close to the middle of Falkirk and a short walk from the bus and railway stations, and it is all about comfort food done well.
Nearly everything on the menu is made in its own kitchen, the baking included, and many of the recipes have been handed down through the family.
The food leans on British and Scottish favourites: hearty breakfasts, eggs and avocado on toast, soups, sandwiches and toasties, burgers and macaroni cheese, with cakes and pastries on the counter for later in the day. There are choices for vegans and for people who avoid gluten, and the coffee is sourced locally. It is a friendly, unfussy place that welcomes dogs, and you can sit in or take away. It makes a good stop before or after a visit to the Kelpies or the Falkirk Wheel. It opens from Monday to Saturday, from breakfast to mid-afternoon; check before you go.
