The Fiddichside Inn

A tiny, unspoiled riverside pub outside Craigellachie, built for railway workers in 1842, with a garden by the Fiddich and a fine shelf of drams.

Welcome

On the edge of Craigellachie, right beside the River Fiddich, stands a tiny, unspoiled country pub.

The Fiddichside Inn was built in 1842 as refreshment rooms for the men building the railway, and very little has changed since.

For almost a century it was the home and life's work of one family. The Smiths bought it in 1919, when their daughter Dorothy was a baby; Dorothy ran it for decades, and after her death her husband Joe kept it going until 2017. The new owner keeps the same spirit: a warm welcome, lively talk, a log fire, a fine shelf of drams and staff who know their whisky.

In summer the garden is a sun trap by the river, and anglers and walkers stop in. There is a holiday cottage next door. The pub opens from Wednesday to Sunday, from early afternoon.
