The Boat Shed Café is a small café in the boat shed at Loch Goil Cruisers, on the Carrick Castle road just outside Lochgoilhead, and it looks straight out across the water of Loch Goil to the wooded hills beyond.

It is fitted out with old boat-shed timber and nautical bits and pieces, and it is a cosy place to sit before or after a trip out on the loch, or simply to stop on the drive down to Carrick Castle.

The menu is simple and good: freshly made sandwiches and soup, home-made cakes and scones with jam and cream, coffee roasted in the Highlands, loose-leaf teas and thick hot chocolate made with real chocolate. Keep an eye on the trees outside the window, where red squirrels come to the feeders. It opens every day, 9am to 4pm, though it is worth checking out of season, when hours can change.
