Welcome

Behind a pale blue shopfront on Church Street in Cromarty, Ingrid's House is a small shop with a Scandinavian heart.

Its shelves are arranged with vases, jugs, candles, bright plates and tins, and jewellery, much of it from Scandinavian designers, chosen for simple, beautiful design and colour.

It is the kind of shop where you go in for a card and find a dozen things to make your home a little brighter. Visitors praise the quality of the gifts and the helpful welcome from the owner, Louise, who is happy to help you find the right present. Earrings by the Scandinavian brand Dansk are a favourite, and in the weeks before Christmas it is a good place to look for presents.

Ingrid's House opens every day from eleven, closing at four, or five on Saturdays. It sits among the old merchants' houses and cottages of Cromarty's streets, so it fits naturally into a wander round the town.
