Dawyck Botanic Garden

One of the world's great arboretums, near Stobo in the Tweed valley, part of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, with rare trees from around the world.

Welcome

In a wooded glen in the Tweed valley near Stobo, Dawyck is one of the world's great arboretums, a garden of trees gathered from across the globe over several centuries.

It is part of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Sixty-five acres of woodland walks lead past rare trees from Nepal, China and Chile, towering conifers and the famous Dawyck Beech. In spring the azaleas blaze and Himalayan blue poppies flower in the shade. Dawyck also has the world's first garden set aside for mosses, lichens and fungi, a quiet, fascinating corner.

The garden opens every day from February to November, and children go free. There is a cafe for lunch or scones, and Stobo Kirk and Peebles are both close by.
