The Moulin Inn – a short walk up for a pint by the fire
About 1.9 miles on foot.

Above Pitlochry, at the foot of the hills, the old village of Moulin has had an inn on its square since 1695.
The Moulin Inn still feels like a real country pub, with log fires, stone walls, a long shelf of malts and ales brewed next door in its own little brewery. The walk up from the station takes about 20 minutes, and it's downhill all the way home. It makes an easy evening out, and dogs are welcome.

The walk
Moulin is three-quarters of a mile above Pitlochry, about 20 minutes' walk from the station by Bonnethill Road and West Moulin Road, uphill most of the way.
The Moulin Hotel stands on the village square, and its pub, the Moulin Inn, opened in 1695.
It's at its best on a cold autumn or winter evening, when the fires are lit.
If it rains
In rain it's a 20-minute walk each way on town roads: wear a waterproof and dry off by the fire, or take a taxi up from the station.
Along the way

Moulin Hotel and Brewery
A drink
Inside the Moulin Inn are log fires and stone-walled corners, and no jukebox or pool table. The ales are its own, from the Moulin Brewery in the old coach house beside it: try the Ale of Atholl. There's a long list of malts too, and a bar menu from Cullen skink, a smoked haddock soup, to steak and ale pie. Ring 01796 472196 to book a table and check the food times. Dogs are welcome. The walk back down to the station takes about 20 minutes, so bring a torch after dark.
