Places to Stay in Lochaber

Lochaber is a land of big mountains and long lochs, from Glencoe and Ben Nevis out to the quiet peninsulas of Morvern and Ardnamurchan. These are our favourite places to stay across it, from lochside cottages to cabins with their own hot tubs.

Updated 23 September 2026. Across Lochaber.

Lochaber makes you want to stay a little longer. The mountains come right down to the water, the roads wind along the shores of the sea lochs, and out on Morvern and Ardnamurchan they turn quiet and single-track. It's a wonderful part of Scotland for walking, spotting wildlife and simply sitting by the loch with a cup of tea.

We've picked out places to stay right across the region. There's an old schoolhouse and a stone cottage on the shore of Loch Linnhe, and an 18th-century hunting lodge on the banks of Loch Shiel with room for a big group. Near Glencoe there are cabins with private hot tubs and a sauna. On Ardnamurchan, woodland cabins look across Loch Sunart with no other buildings in sight. Every one of them welcomes dogs, so bring yours along too.
