Stirlingshire
Castle inns, sushi and a Falkirk kitchen.
Eating out in and around Stirling is relaxed and unfussy. By the castle esplanade, an inn in a school building of 1787 serves lunch and dinner in a traditional lounge bar. On King Street, the old coaching inn remembers the night Robert Burns scratched angry verses on a window. Port Street has sushi and bento boxes, and Dumbarton Road has Punjabi cooking from the tandoor. Falkirk and Alloa have friendly cafés making good comfort food, and further west there are fish suppers at Luss and the drovers' inn at Inverarnan. Book ahead for dinner near the castle at weekends.
