Tweed in Tarbert, candles in Stornoway.
Shopping on Lewis and Harris means buying straight from the people who make things there. By the ferry in Tarbert, a family tweed shop stacks its tall shelves with Harris Tweed in every colour and check, sold by the length or made up into coats, bags and hats. Near the pier, soy candles, diffusers and bath things are poured by hand in a workshop beside the shop. In Stornoway, on South Beach across from the harbour, another candle maker sells fresh, coastal scents alongside gifts from other makers and coffee to go. Leave room in your luggage for a length of tweed.
You are up to date.
That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
