Walks and nature
in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
It’s 23:01 over Loch Lomond.
Loch Lomond
Islands, lochs and the Highland line.
Nature here follows the Highland Boundary Fault, and you can watch the land change as you cross it. Climb the steep little hill above Balmaha and the line runs away across Loch Lomond in a chain of wooded islands. In the Trossachs, Loch Katrine winds west into the hills where Scott set his poem, and the Duke's Pass climbs from Aberfoyle over forest and moor. Rob Roy lies at the foot of Loch Voil, and red squirrels forage along Loch Eck in Cowal. There are rushing falls at Callander, Killin and Inversnaid too. Pack a waterproof, and go a day after rain to see the falls in spate.
