The two cabins stand more than 100 metres apart on their own stretch of shore.

Kabn is two off-grid cabins for two on the shore of Loch Fyne, near Inveraray, and each one frames the loch its own way. Shio has a Japanese-inspired slatted glass gable, and Teru a glass corner that opens up the whole view. In both, the king bed faces the water, and there's a wood-burning stove for the evenings.

Inside Kabn.

Kabn is two off-grid cabins for two on the shore of Loch Fyne, between Cairndow and Inveraray in Argyll, standing more than 100 metres apart on their own stretch of shoreline. Each is a one-bedroom suite lined in pale timber, with full-height glass onto the loch and a king bed facing the water. Shio has a slatted glass gable and Teru a sweeping glass corner, so pick the window you like best.

Inside Red Squirrel Cottage.

Red Squirrel Cottage is a newly renovated three-bedroom cottage for six on the shore of Loch Goil, on the Woodside Lodge estate near Lochgoilhead, about 75 minutes from Glasgow. It's stone at the front and timber-clad at the back, with a lawn running down to the water. Inside, the original wood and exposed brick have been kept, and the sitting room has leather armchairs, shelves of books and a log burner, with the logs and kindling supplied.
