A lead musket ball fragment believed to be linked to an assassination attempt on Bonnie Prince Charlie has been discovered inside the headboard of a bed at Bannockburn House near Stirling. The find adds to earlier evidence of gunfire in the room where the Jacobite leader stayed while recovering from illness in 1746. X-ray analysis confirmed the object was an 18th-century projectile. Researchers believe the discovery supports long-held local accounts that the prince was targeted during his stay.
