Spidean Mialach
A Munro of 996 metres above the north shore of Loch Quoich, climbed from the Kinloch Hourn road by its grassy south-west slopes.
Spidean Mialach stands in the hills between Glen Shiel, Loch Hourn and Loch Quoich, on the Loch Quoich side.
At 996 metres it falls about four metres short of a thousand. Gleouraich, its nearest Munro and the higher of the two, is about three kilometres to the west. Creag a' Mhaim, Druim Shionnach and Aonach air Chrith all lie a little over four kilometres away, to the north-east, north and north-west. Below it lies Loch Quoich, whose dam was completed in 1956.
It is climbed from the single-track road by Loch Quoich to Kinloch Hourn, by its grassy south-west slopes, and most walkers add Gleouraich along the ridge. There is no avalanche forecast for this hill, but under snow the risk is here all the same. Choose a day with a good forecast, and carry a map, a compass and warm clothes.
