Raasay Walled Garden
Introduction
“Welcome: please close the gate to keep the rabbits out”. So reads the sign at the entry to this wonderful walled garden, first built in the 16th century, then revitalised in recent times after being neglected. Fresh produce from the beds and greenhouses is sold from an unmanned stall near the entrance, and the planters are a riot of daffodils and tulips in spring. Peckish rabbits might be barred, but you can wander at will. It’s a few minutes from the ferry.
