Welcome

A few miles inland from Wick, at Upper Puldagon, a family has farmed the same Caithness land since 1925, and it now feeds its visitors too.

Puldagon is a farm shop and restaurant, and nearly everything on the menu begins in the fields outside.

The family rears its own Highland beef, lamb and pork, and the menus follow the seasons. The restaurant upstairs is bright and warm, with wooden tables under timber beams and windows over the farmland, and well-behaved dogs are welcome in the dining area downstairs.

The shop is stocked with the farm's own meat and local produce, preserves and gifts, with the family's rosettes from the agricultural shows on display. Look out for the peacock in the yard. It opens Wednesday to Sunday; ring ahead to book a table, as it is popular.
