North Harbour Bistro
A small seafood bistro beside the harbour on the island of Scalpay, opened by the chef George Lavery in 2014, open on weekday evenings.
North Harbour Bistro sits right beside the harbour on Scalpay, the small island joined to Harris by a bridge a few miles east of Tarbert, and it makes a lovely place to end a day on the east side.
The chef, George Lavery, settled on Scalpay after working around the world and opened the bistro in 2014, and seafood is what it does best, with as much as possible sourced locally. The specials board might bring seafood chowder, halibut or a rib-eye steak, and there's a children's menu, while vegetarian and vegan dishes can be made if you let them know ahead. Wine, beer and cocktails are served too. It's a small place with a small team, open on weekday evenings from five to eight, so booking is strongly advised, and dogs are welcome. Ask for a table by the window and watch the boats at their moorings as the evening comes in.

Dinner on weekday evenings.
