Isle of Harris Brewery Taproom
A working brewery with a taproom, a restaurant and a deli on the pier at Leverburgh, beside the ferry to Berneray.
The Isle of Harris Brewery began in July 2020 in a tin shed on a croft at Borrisdale, and four years later it moved two miles along the shore to the pier at Leverburgh, where it now brews, pours and cooks beside the ferry to Berneray.
The taproom serves its own beers, and the kitchen turns out fish and chips and local seafood: in its first season at the pier it served more than six thousand plates of haddock and chips, and every member of staff was from Harris. The deli stocks a wide range of the island's food and drink, and has what it calls the only beer bottle shop in the Western Isles. In summer there are brewery tours and tastings, which need booking as spaces are limited. It's an easy place to spend an hour before the ferry, with a pint by the window looking out over the water. Hours change through the year with the season and the ferry timetable, so check its own site before you go.
