Lochinver Larder

Lochinver's famous pie shop by the River Inver, making pies from steak and ale to venison and cranberry since the 1980s, to eat by the river or take away.

Welcome

In Lochinver, the fishing village at the foot of the Assynt mountains, the Larder is a regular stop on the road north.

Ian and Debra Stewart started it in 1986 as a deli selling sandwiches, and over the years it grew into a restaurant and, above all, a pie shop.

The pies are made on the premises, and the choice is huge: steak and ale, chicken and ham, chicken with haggis and peppercorn, and sweet ones such as apple and blackcurrant. Its venison and cranberry pie was named Scotland's best meat pie at the British Pie Awards in 2022. Ask for gravy.

Take yours outside and eat it by the River Inver, looking over the sea loch, or sit in; at busy times it is wise to book a table. Dogs are welcome. And if one is not enough, the Larder will post its pies anywhere on the UK mainland.
