Introduction
Accessible only by a single-track road, Achmelvich is a settlement a few miles from Lochinver and is particularly regarded for its beaches. The area is perhaps best known for being home to ‘Hermits Castle’ – believed to be the smallest in Europe – as well as being a popular area for windsurfing, kiting and hiking.
