First Bite
A cafe on the High Street in Langholm, with home cooking, breakfasts, generous lunches, cakes and a courtyard, and dogs welcome.
On the High Street of Langholm, the little town in Eskdale, First Bite is a cafe that opens early and feeds people well.
Its stone front is easy to spot, with a board out on the pavement.
The food is home cooked and good value, from breakfast rolls to paninis and hearty lunches, and the cake counter is hard to resist; one visitor this year singled out a banana and brown sugar cake. There are plenty of tables inside and more out in the courtyard, the staff are friendly, and dogs are welcome.
First Bite opens from Tuesday to Saturday at half past seven in the morning, and a little later on Sundays, closing at four. It makes a good start or finish to a day on the Tarras Valley moor above the town.

Tuesday to Saturday 7.30am to 4pm, Sunday from 9am; closed Monday.
